Scene of a building collapse
Two adult males sustained injuries on Sunday following the collapse of a three-storey building under construction on Agarawu Street in the Lagos Island area of Lagos State.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on Sunday, stated that the incident occurred around 2pm beside the Agarawu Primary Health Centre.
He, however, said the two who were trapped under the rubble were successfully rescued and rushed to the Lagos Island General Hospital, Marina, for medical attention.
He said the intervention of police and emergency responders followed a distress call received at the Adeniji Adele Police Division.
He wrote, “On April 13, 2025, at 2pm, a distress call was received by the Adeniji Adele Division reporting the collapse of a 3-storey building under construction at No. 4 Agarawu Street, beside Agarawu Primary Health Centre, on Lagos Island.
“Swift rescue operations were launched, involving combined teams of armed police personnel, LASEMA, NEMA, and other emergency responders. Two adult male victims trapped in the building were rescued and taken to Lagos Island General Hospital Marina for medical treatment.”
He noted that the scene had been cordoned off, and the general area remained calm and peaceful.
“The situation is currently under control, and further directives will be issued as necessary,” he added.
