Two killed, two injured in Lagos-Ibadan expressway crash

A road crash that occurred at the Carpark- C section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Wednesday night left two people dead and two others with severe injuries.

PUNCH Metro learnt in a traffic update on Thursday by the Commandant General of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Seni Ogunyemi, that the accident occurred at about 10 pm.

He noted that the accident happened when a Mazda bus that was at high speed rammed into a truck that was making a turn at the Carpark-C turning.

Ogunyemi said, “A fatal road crash happened at Carpark-C along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on 16/04/2025 at about 22:05hrs.

“The driver of the Howo Truck was trying to make a turn, but due to impatience and excessive speed by the Mazda bus driver, he rammed into the truck.”

He added that five people were involved in the accident and that “two male adults died and two male adults were injured.”

The TRACE CG noted that the injured victims were rescued at the RCCG Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at a morgue in Sagamu.

“The injured victims were taken to RCCG Hospital by OGSAES, while the presumed dead were taken to Idera morgue in Shagamu with Idera hospital Ambulance by Mowe Police.

Ogunyemi identified the vehicles involved as a white Mazda bus with the number plate SSU 537 XA and a Howo truck without a number plate.

PUNCH Metro reported on Thursday that five persons were hospitalised after sustaining severe injuries in an accident that occurred at the main gate of the Redeemed Christian Church of God headquarters along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Ogunyemi noted that the accident occurred when a Sienna bus collided with a Highlander Jeep, forcing it to ram into some pedestrians.
