The police in Bauchi State have arrested two persons over suspected criminal conspiracy and theft of a car.

The suspects, Ibrahim Uzeru, a 30-year-old resident of Kashere Santuraki, Akko Local Government Area, Gombe State and John Paul, 35-year-old resident of the Bayan Gari area, Bauchi State, were apprehended after the car owner, Yahuza Haruna, reported to the police the disappearance of his vehicle.

A statement by the Bauchi Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil said the detectives assigned to the case, subsequently intercepted the car along the Maiduguri bypass near Awala roundabout.

The statement revealed that during questioning, the two persons failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding their possession of the vehicle, resulting in their arrest for further investigation.

“During interrogation, one of the suspects, Ibrahim Uzeru, admitted to having received the stolen vehicle from his employer and mentioned that he had invited John Paul to accompany him to Durum and hand over the vehicle to an undisclosed individual.

“Uzeru also indicated that he had promised John Paul a sum of N20,000 as his reward,” the statement read.

The statement further indicated that the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be taken to court upon completing their investigation.
