Police nab drug dealers, seize ₦3.5m worth of tramadol in Katsina

Katsina State Police Command has arrested two suspected drug dealers and recovered a large quantity of tramadol tablets worth ₦3,500,000.00 in a bid to curb substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in the state.

According to a statement by the Command Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Abubakar Sadiq made available to newsmen on Thursday, the successful arrest was based on credible intelligence.

“On March 20, 2025, at about 1600 hrs, based on credible intelligence, operatives of the command traced and arrested one Murtala Salisu, male, age 27, of Bare-bari village, Safana LG, Katsina State, in possession of 2,084 sachets of suspected tramadol tablets.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to having gotten the illicit drugs from one Rabe, m. (not real name) from Nassarawa State.

“He further mentioned one Tanimu Abubakar, m, of Jibia LGA, Katsina State, as his accomplice. The suspects were arrested, and they both confessed to the commission of the offence. Investigation is ongoing.

“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, Bello Shehu, reaffirmed the commitment of the command towards fighting substance abuse, illicit drug trafficking and other drug-related offences while ensuring the safety and security of the good people of the state.

“He further urged members of the public to continue supporting the command with valuable and timely information to aid in the fight against all forms of crime and criminality in the state,” the statement noted.
