Remo Stars fought back from two goals down to earn a 2–2 draw against bottom-placed Lobi Stars in a rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League matchday 30 fixture played on Wednesday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

The fixture had been postponed due to the involvement of several Remo Stars players with the national team during the March international window. With both teams returning to action midweek, it was Lobi Stars who struck first, showing early urgency and intent to end their winless run.

Johnmark Aule opened the scoring for the hosts in the 35th minute after combining well with Segun Oloruntoba. The goal gave Lobi a rare lead and a lift in confidence. Seven minutes later, they doubled their advantage from the penalty spot when Onyekachi Okafor stepped up and calmly converted after the referee pointed to the spot, punishing a foul inside the box.

Remo Stars returned from the break with renewed urgency. Coach Daniel Ogunmodede made a double substitution at half-time, introducing Haruna Hadi and Joseph Abah for Sikiru Alimi and Seun Ogunribide. The changes brought immediate impact.

Olamilekan Adedayo missed a chance to halve the deficit in the 52nd minute, firing over from close range. But four minutes later, Hadi made no mistake, finishing confidently to reduce the margin. In the 58th minute, Remo Stars made another attacking switch, bringing on Samson Olasupo and Alex Oyowah in place of Adedayo and Samuel Anakwe.

The momentum remained with the visitors, and in the 70th minute, Joseph Abah completed the comeback, finding the net to make it 2–2. The forward’s impact from the bench ensured that Remo Stars escaped with a point and extended their lead at the top of the table with six points more than second-placed Rivers United.

Despite the comeback, Remo Stars’ hopes of setting a new NPFL points record took a slight dent. They remain on 61 points from 32 matches and would need to win all their remaining six fixtures to match Rivers United’s record haul of 77 points in a single season.

For Lobi Stars, the draw extended their winless run in the league to 15 matches, dating back to December 12, 2024, when they last defeated Plateau United. They remain rooted to the bottom of the table, with 25 points from 32 matches, having lost nine and drawn six of their last 15 outings.

Remo Stars next face Katsina United on Sunday, April 13 at the Remo Stars Stadium on matchday 33, while Lobi Stars travel to Kano to play Kano Pillars on the same day.
