Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika has seen his market value rise to €20m, according to football transfer website Transfermarkt in their first ranking of 2025, up from €16m in the last evaluation of 2024.
The 23-year-old’s impressive performances this season have significantly boosted his valuation, with several top European clubs now eyeing him for a summer exit from Belgian side Club Brugge.
Former Genk and Gent head coach, Hein Vanhaezebrouck, recently suggested that the Belgian champions will struggle to retain Onyedika beyond this season despite their desire to keep their prized asset.
“He’s outstanding and great. They won’t be able to keep them after this season. He was very strong, and he has seen all of Europe,” the 61-year-old said in quotes revealed by Voetbal Nieuws after Onyedika’s commanding display in Club Brugge’s 1-0 win over Genk.
Club Brugge demanded €20m for the midfielder last season but are reportedly set to increase their asking price when the transfer window opens this summer, reflecting his new market valuation.
The dynamic midfielder has emerged as one of the most sought-after players in Europe, with heavyweights including Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester City all expressing interest in securing his services.
According to The Telegraph, Manchester City are particularly interested in signing Onyedika as a deputy for their key midfielder Rodri, who has been struggling with injuries. The Nigerian caught the eye with his outstanding performance against City in the UEFA Champions League, where he scored the opening goal in a thrilling contest at the Etihad Stadium.
His rise to prominence marks a remarkable journey from humble beginnings in Onitsha, Nigeria, where he once revealed his family sometimes had to beg for food.
“I have five brothers. At times, it was a struggle to survive,” he previously told Belgian publication Het Laatste Nieuws.
Onyedika was spotted by Nigerian club Ebedei’s academy, which had links with Danish club Midtjylland, providing him with a pathway to European football.
After a loan spell at Fredericia in the Danish second division, he returned to Midtjylland before choosing Club Brugge over interest from AC Milan to further develop his career.
The Super Eagles midfielder has contributed two goals and two assists in 45 appearances across all competitions this season and has been instrumental in Club Brugge’s impressive 20-game unbeaten run.
With more than two years remaining on his contract, Onyedika’s rising market value and performances suggest the Belgian club could command a significant transfer fee should they decide to cash in on their midfield dynamo this summer.
